“In New York if I have a free hour, I feel like a failure. In Paris, I feel like a success.”
---Marc Jacobs, Artistic Director, Louis Vuitton
Let’s let go of the idea that we must be furiously busy every moment of the day in order to be of value! Feeling overwhelmed is not a sign that you’ve “made it”. You don’t have to overbook your calendar to be important. As human beings, we can’t do more than one task at a time. That means we must take time to think, to ponder, to decide--our creativity requires it! In order to be inspired, we must spend time doing nothing.
The better we feel, the better we think and perform. Right now, ask yourself, “What would it take for me to feel better?” (The answers may come slowly at first, but with practice, you’ll get really good at it.) Once you’ve got an idea of what would make you feel better right now, do it--NOW.
I promise that when you come back to whatever you were working on, it will feel easier, and it will get done better and faster.
It’s smart to take time to be better. Debbie
"A happy life is just a string of happy moments, but most people don't allow the happy moment, because they're so busy trying to get a happy life." ---Abraham Lincoln
